Her family is from Hastings.

Peter, her Partner had a flower shop in Bromley when she lived there. Her mother, from Hastings, used to chat with him. Peter’s girlfriend is from Hastings.

Harmony Read, a Florist at Crystal Palace flower shop said: “We are not closing down any time soon.” and they will be there for Christmas.

They have started working in front of Crystal Palace Station, London, five years ago, on Thursdays and Fridays, selling flowers for the commuters. On Saturdays and Sundays, we are here, at Crystal Palace triangle beside Alma Pub, place which we have partnership with, says Harmony.

“The business [here] belongs to the pub and is nice for them to put on their website,” said Harmony.

-Not clear if the partnership with Harmony and Peter with the Pub goes beyond the Crystal Palace station situation. Asked twice, she did not want to comment on that more than once-.

Harmony is on the business for 20 years, since she was 16, in distinct locations. Her mother used to talk to Peter, her business Partner and friend, who had a Flower shop close to her house in Bromley, back in time.

She used to work for him, back there, she says. It was when the whole business partnership with Peter started, and so, her relationship with flowers.

Asked how is to work outdoors?

For Harmony, the biggest issue is the weather. - The answer could not be different. Could it?

Harmony said that she learned how to survive and how to make the flowers survive.

Harmony said: “we get used to it.” One week on and week Off for each. That's the way and one of the reasons Harmony and Peter are splitting the workout.

The other contributed fact is that they are both “living” outside of London. (Her partner

is often travelling to see the girlfriend in Hastings).

“The perfect flower weather is no wind, no rain and cloud weather. Like today.

Today is the perfect weather,” says Harmony. (Cloudy and drizzle rain).

Summertime the flowers are in needing of shadowing and must be moved around constantly. As the sun position changes.

“The weather is the most awkward thing to work outside as wind and rain can make the [flowers] paper wheat and you need to rewrap it.” Added her.

Harmony does not classify one type of flower as best seller and says that they do not have a single thing which they can say that is selling the most.

“We change seasonally.

“Spring flowers are back now, because they have been away for longer, they are the best seller now,” said her.

Although the flowers are coming from Netherlands, they are bought or sold throughout a big auction in Vauxhall, London. Where they buy to resale it. No matter which country the flowers come from.

They never thought in exploring another market, nor other country.

It is a huge chain, but the sellers who are selling to them are not taking a huge margin profit, according to her.

Customers:

Among their customers are young families. Every week, or every other week.

Friends' visitors gifting etc.

The Crystal Palace Flowers is also providing flowers for some weddings.

Brexit?

Harmony said: “It all happened. It has been and gone.”

She remembered that on that time prices went up a little bit, but it has not had a huge effect for their business.

Selling Christmas Threes as well as flowers during the festive period she said: “We are not closing down any time soon.” therefore is presumed they will be there for Christmas.
