A Helping Hand and a Covid Hero Award, Charles Dickson, the co-founder of the CAF CAF charity, has been making a significant impact on the Gipsy Hill community through his unwavering dedication and selflessness.

Over the past 12 years, Charles has become an integral part of the neighbourhood, leaving a lasting positive impression on the lives of those around him.

Despite his charity activities who mainly helps people from Ghana, his contributions extend far beyond his role as a charity co-founder, as he consistently demonstrates compassion by helping those in need.

From feeding stray cats to participating in community events, Charles has become a reliable source of support and goodwill for the people of Gipsy Hill. His remarkable efforts were recently recognized when he was awarded the prestigious Covid Hero title by Southern Railway, further highlighting his exceptional contributions during challenging times.

Nana Quashie-Apeatse, a frequent traveller through Gipsy Hill station, has seen firsthand the impact that Charles has had on the community. She said: "I have been seeing Charles at Gipsy Hill station on my way to work or travelling through the station many times, and I always see Charles engaging with customers and local residents who just come to the station to converse."

Nana's observations brighten on Charles's genuine connection with the people he meets, highlighting his dedication to promote a sense of community and supplying a friendly and welcoming environment for all.

Moreover, Nana recalls Dickson expressing his passion for charity work and helping the underprivileged. "I always wanted to do charity work to help people who are underprivileged." She remembers him saying.

This look into Dickson's mindset reveals his altruistic nature and his loyal commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those less fortunate.

Dickson's acts of kindness and selflessness knows no bounds. On a recent occasion, while driving through the Blackwall Tunnel on his way home, Dickson encountered a man in need. Despite being stuck in traffic, Charles promptly stopped his car and selflessly handed the man a croissant he had received from the Gipsy Hill station coffee shop staff. This small act of kindness brightened the man's day and exemplified the extraordinary lengths Dickson is willing to go to help others, even amid daily challenges.
